Six East London Runners braved 50mph winds, hail stones and mud at the South Devon Coastal Trail on Saturday, with one runner completing the 32-mile Ultra race.

Set on a variable terrain including jagged rocks and sandy coves, the series posed a challenge to all the competitors.

Roberto Bruni completed the 32-mile event in an impressive 7.12.29 while Jimmy Hartwell ran the marathon race in 7.17.26.

In the half-marathon event, James Wilson crossed the line in 1.48.13, Paul Thompson finished in 2.12.00 and Trish Kelly stopped the clock on 3.13.57.

Sharon Springfield ran the 10k event and managed a time of 1.05.01.

Elsewhere, Peter Hatley completed the Great Bentley Half Marathon on Sunday. He finished 180th overall in a time of 1.35.11.

The day before Patrick Brown dominated the Wanstead Flats parkrun, winning the 5k race and finishing two-and-a-half minutes ahead of his nearest rival with a time of 18.52.

James Nichols came second in 21.22 while Derek Wright (23.09) finished eighth and Regis Martin (23.28) closed in tenth.

Sarah Burns and Maud Hodson were also in action in the event and achieved good times of 25.53 and 26.07 respectively.
