Orion Harriers’ juniors achieved 31 medals at last weekend’s Essex and Eastern Track & Field Indoor Championships at the Lee Valley Athletics Centre.

Megan Penfold performed well in the Under-13s, winning the 60m hurdles (9.93), high jump (1.47 - which was a new county record), long jump (4.45) and claimed a silver medal in the 200m (28.42).

Team-mate Aoibheann Pearce raced well to win gold in the Essex 800m and claimed a silver in the Eastern, while Heidi Tanya gained a bronze for Essex in the same event.

Cameron Campbell took silver for both Essex and Eastern in the Under-13 200m with a personal best of 29.45.

Jasmine Offiler ran her first Essex Championships 800m in the Under-13s and performed well, registering 3.00.57.

Isabel Mills achieved a personal best of 2.25.40 in the Under-15 800m which secured her an Essex silver and a bronze Eastern medal.

Emily Sharpe made the final in the 200m as a first-year Under-15 with a personal best of 27.64.

Melissa Cleary took gold in the Under-17 high jump with a personal best of 1.45 while in the same age group Harry Sloman was crowned champion in the 800m with a personal best of 2.05.11.

Sloman’s training partner Thomas Young took silver in the Essex and bronze in the Eastern with a personal best of 2.06.64.

Serena Espeute achieved an indoor personal best of 42.30 in the Under-17 300m along with an Essex silver and Eastern bronze medal.

Sophie Grant and Joelle Ewen claimed Essex indoor silver and bronze medals respectively in the Under-17 pole vault.

In his first year as an Under-20, Hanif Henry gained silver medals in the 200m (23.72) and bronze in the 60m with a personal best of 7.22s.

Amy Richards achieved a personal best and a silver Essex medal in both the Under-20 long jump (5.26) and the 200m (26.59).
