Seven East London Runners competed at the Reading Half Marathon on Sunday with three managing to record personal bests.

Amadeus Furlong (1.39.56), Simon Martin (1.44.53) and Steven Bywater (1.47.58) all smashed their best times on the course.

Paul Quinton was the club’s fastest member home in a time of 1.19.27 while Peter Hatley (1.34.22), Shabib Ali (1.35.58) and Tanbir Jasimuddin (1.58.01) also crossed the finishing line.

There were two other Runners completing half marathons as Alex Haward registered 1.36.52 at Eastbourne and Sarah Burns ran 1.44.18 at Bideford.

At the Ilford Athletics Club Open 10-mile cross country event, Grant Conway did well to come fourth in a time of 1.22.07 which saw him finish as the fastest Vet 40.

Closer to home Samuel Browne came first at the Walthamstow 5km parkrun in a time of 19.20.

Browne was closely followed by James Nichols (21.36) in fourth and Richard Guest (22.39) in sixth.

Meanwhile at the Hackney Marshes 5km parkrun, Euan Brown finished first in 16.29 with Patrick Brown closing in third with 16.48 and Mark Boulton recording a personal best of 17.01 to cross the line in fourth.
