Moses Odubajo insists his winner against Colchester United is one of the most important goals he has scored.

The winger netted his tenth goal of the season with his late strike against Orient’s Essex neighbours and Odubajo believes it is one of the most significant moments of his emerging career.

He said: “I would say it’s one of the most important goals I’ve scored so far.

“I can’t really remember much about the goal. I just remember receiving the pass back from Shaun Batt and before I knew it I was one on one with the goalkeeper. I did well to keep my head and the goal counts and we won the game.”

Odubajo has become one of the most influential members of the Orient team and the 20-year-old’s improvement in front of goal has been noticeable. The pacy attacker only netted three times last season but has already reached double figures with 12 league matches remaining.

Odubajo, who is on course to make his 100th appearance for the club at Walsall later this month, said: “I never thought I’d have scored ten already. I just thought as long as we do well it doesn’t really matter how many goals I score or set up as long as the boys do well and we finish as high up as possible.”

He added: “I just think I play wherever the ball falls. My job is to pick up the second balls off the strikers. If I’m in or around hopefully I can make a goal out of something or even score myself.

“I always work on my finishing and it’s paying off now which is a good thing.”

Orient were encouraged by another big crowd at Brisbane Road with 6,323 fans attending the match and Odubajo is grateful for the backing the O’s have received all season.

He said: “Their support has been brilliant all through the season and I just hope it carries on even when times get hard or as times get better. The crowd have been fantastic so far.”

The O’s are in the battle for automatic promotion but Odubajo was keen not to put too much pressure on his teammates and is just focused on their immediate challenge.

The versatile winger said: “I think confidence is high but like I said before, even if we lose next week but then win the following match as long as we’re still picking up hard points it’s a good result.

“The season’s open because teams are always going to slip up away or even at home. As long as we keep winning our games then the rest will come. We just need to keep going and want as many points as we can get.”
