Three clinical finishes from penalty corners helped Waltham Forest ladies maintain their quest for promotion in Division 2SE as they beat Southend 3-0 away from home.

The team's hard work and perseverance paid off on a difficult pitch and they were deserving of the win.

Forest scored their first shortly before half-time when leading goal scorer Lucy Butcher scored the first of her two.

Southend came out strong in the second half and had the chance to equalise when they won a penalty flick after Samantha Fish bravely got in the way of a shot on the Forest goal, stopping it with her arm.

However, the flick was put wide of goalkeeper Morag Campbell's right post.

Forest took heart from the miss and quickly went on to score their second goal, again from a short corner converted by Butcher.

The third and final goal, scored by Kate Murphy, killed off any hope of Southend getting back into contention.

Player of the match Anne-Marie Perry was key to Forest's gritty win and they now go into the final league game against Wapping at home with an outside chance of still getting promotion.

Forest's men lost 1-0 to Peterborough with a depleted squad on their final away game of the season in East Premier B.

Despite the possession and strong start, Forest could not find an opening and found the opposition D difficult to break down.

Forest started the second half brightly but despite a number of good chances the ball would not find its way over the line.

As the game wore on, Peterborough became more threatening on the counter-attack and eventually forced a goal from a short corner.

Forest heads didn't drop and instead continued to apply pressure to the opposition but the equaliser remained elusive.
