A young Essex racer is looking to build upon a good fifth placed finish to get his championship back on track this weekend.

Lochlan Bearman, 12, from Theydon Bois has had a difficult start to his first season in Mini Max at the Kimbolton circuit and currently lies in tenth place, trailing championship leader Bryony King by 121 points.

He suffered technical difficulties in his first race and was excluded from a heat after finishing second for a technical non conformity last month.

However, after last month’s fifth placed finish, he is hoping to push on in round four this weekend to help push himself up the standings.

Bearman is also competing at Whilton Mill, where he is having more luck in fighting for the championship, currently lying in second place as he chases down championship leader Johnathon Hoggard, who holds a 22 point lead over him.

Away from the track, Bearman has begun working with former professional MMA athlete Brett Sizeland and Concept Fitness in Epping, where he is being provided with advice and guidance on both the nutritional and mental approach to race weekends.

Bearman has already has two MSA sanctioned championships to his name - the 2010 Red Lodge Kart and the Hunts Kart Racing Club Championship in 2013 and boasts two further runner-up positions between 2011 and 2013.
