West Ham enforcer Mohamed Diame believes Liverpool are keen to sign him this summer.

The 26-year-old midfielder joined the Hammers last season on a free transfer following his release by Wigan Athletic and was linked with a move to Arsenal amongst others.

Now the Senegalese international says he believes he is on Liverpool's shortlist ahead of the summer transfer window.

"Liverpool? I can't tell you if I will be a Liverpool player next season. But I think my name is still on their wanted list," Diame told the Independent.

“I don't hide it, I'm ambitious and I want to join a top-six side. I am 26 years old and it's time to take that step.”

Diame has scored four times in 24 Premier League starts this term, but feels he has not been able to replicate his impressive form of last season.

“Overall, my season has been okay, although I think it is not up to last season. I started badly, but gradually I got my bearings," admitted Diame.
