Waltham Forest boxer Roman Haidari has qualified for the London finals of the Junior ABA Championships.

Haidari, who trains out of the East London Boxing Academy, beat George Neale of Gator ABC in the North East Division semi-final on April 28.

A clear and unanimous points victory against Neale saw Haidari progress to the final against Max Holden of Five Star ABC in the North East Division Finals.

The better fighter once more, Haidari took control of the bout to defeat Holden with a strong of combinations.

Coach Umer Ali Iqbal said: “Although some coaches prefer the easy route to the title by getting walkovers, I was glad Roman was drawn to box two days in a row and had to work for the prestigious North East Division title. This allowed Roman to shake off some ring rust and get back into championship mode.

“Both his performances spoke for themselves where he won every minute of every round and for me Roman was the best boxer in the division,” added Iqbal.

Haidari will continue his quest for a third national ABA title at the London finals, which will be held this weekend at a venue yet to be decided, with the semi-finals on Saturday and the final the following day.
