Waltham Forest Diving Club had three participants place during the Sheffield Nationals at Ponds Forge International Sports Centre.

Marianne Capes, Millie Mason and Claire Dooley finished second, third and fourth respectively in the 14-16 year-old National Girls competition on the weekend of May 3/4.

The girls completed six dives at the 1m and 3m levels seeing off huge competition from successful clubs all over the country, including Cambridge, Luton, Southend, Southampton and Crystal Palace.

The clubs' other divers, Laura Bracegirdle, Zac Oliver, Lizzie Mason and Xavier Chocken, have also won medals at prestigious competitions this year.

However in spite of their success, Waltham Forest council have decided not to properly replace the pool in which they train in.

Their Walthamstow facility is set to receive a £23m rebuild, but the GLL and local council look set the cut the diving pool out of their redevelopment plans.
