Moses Odubajo says his stunning opening goal at Wembley means 'nothing' after Leyton Orient lost to Rotherham United on penalties in the League One play-off final on Sunday.

The 20-year-old winger put the O's ahead after 35 minutes with a sweetly-struck half-volley - made all the more impressive by the fact it was taken with his weaker left foot - leaving Millers goalkeeper Adam Collin grasping at thin air.

Odubajo then created the second minutes later, scampering down the right-hand side of the 18-yard box before cutting back perfectly for Dean Cox to side-foot into an empty net.

From there, though, things went downhill for the O's and two Alex Revell goals in the second-half forced extra-time and penalties, with Steve Evans' side 4-3 winners on spot-kicks.

For Odubajo, defeat rendered his sumptuous goal little more than a footnote in the story of a memorable final.

"It was a great moment but we've lost at the end of the day, so it counts for nothing now," said Odubajo.

Reflecting on how the game had turned in Rotherham's favour, Odubajo said: "The first 15 minutes of the second half, we just - as a team - got deeper and they just piled on pressure and the pressure resulted in two goals.

"They're a direct team, so sometimes you try and anticipate things, sometimes you have to drop off but our luck went and they got two good goals and we didn't really retaliate with that and we held them at 2-2."

Asked what had been in said within the sanctity of the O's dressing room by Russell Slade, Odubajo said the Orient boss had been downbeat.

"He's feeling the same as we are, to be fair. He didn't really say much; his emotions took over. It's an emotional time right now.

"The chairman came in to try and lift our hearts up but what's done is done. He just came with his little words of wisdom - "Go again" and what-not; we fight again."
