West Ham United are closing in on a deal for Anderlecht defender Cheikhou Kouyate, according to Belgian broadcaster RTBF.

Kouyate, 24, has been trailed by the Hammers for some time now as Sam Allardyce seeks to bolster his backline ahead of the new season.

The Senegalese centre-half made 47 appearances in all competitions for the Belgian giants last season, helping them to the Belgian Super Cup.

It is believed Kouyate will cost the Irons in the region of €8.5m.
