Second XI Premier Division

Chingford Seconds claimed a comprehensive nine-wicket victory at home to Ilford Seconds.

Ilford won the toss and elected to bat first but could only make 130 as they were bowled out.

Usman Rana (31) and Ganesh Sai (29) top-scored in a disappointing innings for the visitors.

Kerry Marriott took three for 50 and Richard MacGregor recorded two for five as Chingford took control.

The hosts then won the match with plenty to spare, scoring 134 for the loss of one wicket.

Mark Fletcher was unbeaten on 54 and fellow opener James Hill retired on 33.

Salman Rana took the sole wicket for Ilford.

Wanstead and Snaresbrook Seconds enjoyed a comfortable 96-run victory over Buckhurst Hill Seconds.

Put into bat first, Wanstead made 242 for eight in 46.2 overs.

The visitors then removed Buckhurst for just 146 to claim a resounding victory.

South Woodford Seconds lost by five wickets at home to Colchester and East Essex.

The visitors won the toss and bowled their hosts out for 108 before claiming the win with five to spare.

Second XI Division One

Loughton Seconds clung on to claim a draw at Hornchurch Seconds.

Batting first, Loughton reached 286 for six before declaring.

Andy Roberts (62) and Mitchell Gilbert (57 not out) top-scored for the hosts.

Connor Sorrell took two for 32 for Loughton.

Opener Farhad Anwar hit 63 for the visitors. Adam Vinson also chipped in with 44 as his side ended on 208 for six.

Mitchell Gilbert took three for 34 but the visitors held firm.

Woodford Wells Seconds won by five wickets away to Wickford Seconds.

Put into bat first, Wickford started brightly through Iain Letch (88) but fell away to finish on 204.

Matthew Reid-Evans (six for 59) and Brian Schofield (four for 73) shared the wickets.

An unbeaten 78 from Robert Leiper saw the visitors reach 207 for five.

Zach Dunkley took two for 42 for the home side.

Fives and Heronians Seconds lost at home to Southend-on-Sea and EMT Seconds by five wickets.

The visitors won the toss and decided to bowl but Fives took control, declaring on 213 for eight.

Joshua Richards (59) and Furrakh Mirza (56) laid the basis of a solid innings for the hosts.

Tom Kenton took four for 35 for the visitors.

However Old Southendian reached 215 for five to secure the win.

Sixty-nine from opener Kevin Grant was consolidated by an unbeaten 61 from Kevin Spear.

Abbas Mirza took three for 33 for the hosts but to no avail.

Second XI Division Two

Harold Wood Seconds won by four wickets at home to West Essex Seconds.

Put into bat first, West Essex were removed for 142.

Half-centuries from Miftha Islam (51) and Shahab Umer (50) accounted for two-thirds of the visitors’ total.

Luke Hammett was imperious with the ball, boasting figures of five for 25. Zohan Afzal also took three for just ten runs.

Srinivas Mangalapally (74) got the hosts’ reply up and running before a brief wobble saw Wood finish on 145 for six.

Murad Ali took four for 50 for the visitors.

Epping Seconds defeated Old Brentwoods Seconds by 37 runs at home.

Invited to bat after losing the toss, the hosts made 206 before being bowled out.

Umesh Ghadhvi (58) led the way, with opener Simon Lycett having already made 43.

Raheel Gabriel was the star man with the ball, taking four for 33.

The visitors were subsequently removed for 169.

A big knock of 83 from Haroon Zakira got Brentwoods off to a good start but a collapse followed and Khalid Butt’s 28 was the only other significant contribution.

Ghadhvi was deadly with the ball too, taking five for 27, whilst Lycett contributed four for 69.
