West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan believes the club must aim to finish in the top six.

The east London club battled with relegation for most of last term, but ultimately climbed to 13th by the end of the campaign.

Sullivan wants the Hammers to set their targets high and match his own ambitions ahead of the new season.

“You can’t just look to stay up,” Sullivan told The Mirror. “It is not acceptable to our supporters to say, ‘We’ve survived. We’ve had a very good campaign.’”

He continued: “Our supporters are realistic. They know it is a huge and difficult task to break into the top six, but we must be aiming for that even if we don’t achieve it.”
