Second XI Premier Division

Six wickets from Sachin Vaja helped Wanstead and Snaresbrook Seconds beat Colchester and East Essex Seconds by eight wickets.

Visitors Colchester won the toss and elected to bat, but Vaja’s superb display with the ball restricted the away side to 214 all out.

Openers Sam Stockwell and Greg de Silva got the innings off to a solid start with 40 apiece, before Gareth Fisher added 42.

Wanstead made light work of chasing down Colchester’s total, finishing on 218 for the loss of just two wickets.

Joseph Palmer’s 73 led the way and the opener was ably-supported by Waseem Qureshi (57) and Feroze Khushi (53).

Tashaq Husain took the two Wanstead wickets.

A century from Harry Neicho eased South Woodford Seconds to a four-wicket victory over Chingford Seconds.

Hosts Chingford won the toss and opened the batting, with opener James Hill falling just seven short of a ton.

Hill’s knock was the highlight of the innings for the home side, who were subjected to a superb display from Louis Cant with the ball.

Cant finished with figures of seven for 57 as the hosts completed their innings with 199 for nine.

Neicho’s century set South Woodford well on their way to victory, with Joe Mariani hitting a useful 33 as the hosts reached 200 for six.

Richard MacGregor and Neil Dial each took three wickets.

Nicholas Bailey’s century condemned Buckhurst Hill Seconds to a 99-run defeat at home to Chelmsford Seconds.

Batting first, the hosts raced to 249 before declaring.

Bailey’s 104 was supplemented by a half-century from Matt Thurston and 41 from Angus Turner, whilst Aliz Azad and George Hick took two wickets each.

The hosts started encouragingly in reply but 56 from Ed Buxton and 26 from Hermes Michael Solomonides proved a false dawn as they were removed for 150.

Neal Abhyankar took three for 35 and Ben Clifford took three for 38 to deny Buckhurst a win.

Second XI Division One

An unbeaten knock of 84 from Asim Aslam guided Loughton Seconds to a five-wicket win at Harlow Seconds.

Batting first, Harlow made 203 all out as Jordan Ramsden and Adam Vinson each finished with three wickets.

Alan Jones (38) top-scored and Simon Baulcomb (33) chipped in to move the score along.

Loughton appeared to be making hard work of reaching the target before Aslam’s 84 helped them across the line with five wickets to spare.

Lewis Aldred (three for 58) and Daniel Stopp (two for 51) took the wickets.

Woodford Wells Seconds drew against Southend-on-Sea EMT Seconds after failing to remove their visitors.

Sixty-five from Robert Leiper and 35 from Joe Johnson put the hosts in an enviable position as they amassed 223 for eight.

Tom Kenton claimed three for 71 for the visitors and Chris Maher took two for 23.

Southend’s reply got off to a false start when opener Kevin Grant went for a duck but an unbeaten 62 from David Colwill steadied the ship.

Decent knocks from Maher (38) and Tom Kenton (30) kept the visitors going as they closed on 188 for eight to avoid defeat.

Debayan Dasgupta was the pick of the home side’s bowlers with figures of four for 53.

Steven Doig took five for 20 to help Fives and Heronians Seconds to a 69-run win at Hadleigh and Thundersley Seconds.

The visitors scored 249 for nine, with Ali Raza top-scoring on 64.

Richard Straker finished with figures of four for 64.

In reply, Jack Wagstaff hit 66 not out and Adam Sinclair 47 but it was not enough as the hosts were bowled out for 180.

Doig did most of the damage, taking five for 20 to secure the win.

Second XI Division Two

West Essex Seconds paid for a poor batting display as they were beaten by 124 runs at home to Leigh on Sea Seconds.

Opening the batting, the visitors set about building a good score with 60 from Mark Sexton and 42 each from David Clarke and Christopher Sharp.

Murad Ali was the leading wicket-taker for the hosts, finishing with three for 45.

The West Essex response was extremely disappointing, with the final six wickets yielding just 17 runs.

Shahab Umer (29) and Omar Afzal (20) top-scored but found little assistance from the tail-end as the hosts were bowled out for 107.

John Elliott took five wickets and Paul Sibley three as they got stuck into the West Essex batting line-up.

Second XI Division Three

A dismal display with the bat helped Oakfield Parkonians Seconds to a five-wicket win at home against Woodford Green Seconds.

Benefiting from 24 extras, the visitors were bowled out for 75; Matthew Field top-scored with just 16.

Abdul Rehman Razzaq ripped through the away side’s line-up, taking five for just 11.
