West Ham United are interested in signing Catania striker Gonzalo Bergessio, according to Italian website Tutto Mercato Web.

Bergessio, 29, is the latest player to be linked to the Hammers as Sam Allardyce looks to re-build his squad ahead of co-owner David Sullivan’s calls for the club to push towards a top-six place.

The Argentine forward scored ten goals in 28 starts for the Italian club last season, but was unable to prevent their relegation to Serie B.
