Highly-rated Ipswich Town defender Aaron Cresswell is undergoing a medical ahead of a proposed move to West Ham, according to Sky Sports.

Creswell, 24, has excelled for Championship side Ipswich Town for the past three seasons after signing from League One Tranmere Rovers.

The left-back is believed to be undergoing a medical with the Hammers ahead of a proposed move to Upton Park.

Signed from Prenton Park in 2011, Cresswell has established himself as first-choice at Portman Road, making 138 league and cup appearances and scoring seven times from left-back.

Frequently linked with a move to the Premier League, the 5ft7in, Liverpool-born defender is thought of as one of the best left-backs outside the top-flight.

West Ham boss Sam Allardyce has been keen to secure a left-back this summer after George McCartney and Matt Taylor's contracts expired and Pablo Armero's loan spell ended.

The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move for Nice's Timothee Kolodziejczak but although a fee is understood to have been agreed, a deal for the Frenchman has yet to be completed.
