Leyton Orient started their pre-season campaign with a 3-2 win at Conference Premier side Dartford this evening.

Lloyd James struck twice in the first half before Lee Noble got on the scoresheet for the hosts.

Substitute Scott Kashket netted a penalty in the second period for Orient. Dartford replied again through a deflected effort from Tom Derry. But the match finished after 87 minutes as thunder and lightning in the area was a threat to the players.

The O's handed a debut to new goalkeeper Adam Legzdins following his arrival from Derby County this summer. The team was a mixture of experienced campaigners and youth team players with Sam Ling, Jack Humphrey and Montell Agyemang starting.

Orient opened the scoring after 12 minutes when James neatly controlled a long ball and fired past goalkeeper Jason Brown.

Mathieu Baudry had the chance to extend their lead but the defender headed over the crossbar.

The League 1 side doubled their lead through James again as the midfielder hit a superb 25-yard strike into the corner of the net.

Dartford pulled one back just after the half hour mark when Noble headed in Ryan Hayes' free-kick after Legzdins came out and missed the ball.

Russell Slade made a host of changes for the second half with former Charlton midfielder Bradley Pritchard making his debut.

Former Wolves defender and ex-Derby defender Valentin Gjokaj both came on for the second half as trialists.

The visitors were awarded a penalty when young attacker Kashket was brought down in the area. Kashket stepped up and tucked away the spot kick to make it 3-1 to the O's.

Orient almost added another goal but Harry Lee was unlucky to see his free-kick cannon off the crossbar.

Dartford pulled one back with just over ten minutes remaining when Derry's shot was deflected into the net.

But the match finished early with thunder and lightning in Dartford causing the referee to bring the match to a halt.
