Third XI Premier Division

Bilal Patel’s 97 was not enough to prevent Wanstead and Snaresbrook Thirds from drawing with Shenfield Thirds.

Dismissed three short of his century, Patel’s score was supplemented by 50 from Giri Rathakrishnan as Wanstead closed on 210 for six.

Riaz Rasool was the leading Shenfield wicket-taker, finishing with three for 57.

George Ballington hit 26 for the hosts, who struggled to build momentum with the bat as they reached 154 for eight.

Muhammed Atif (three for 32) and Walid Sherzai (four for 57) proved dangerous with the ball, claiming all but one of the wickets to fall.

South Woodford Thirds remain in the bottom two after drawing against Woodford Wells Thirds – a game in which both sides had batsmen hit 126.

Electing to bat first, Wells declared on a huge score of 340, aided by a knock of 126 from Andrew Gibbon.

Paul Murphy hit 94 for the hosts, who declared with three wickets in hand to try and remove their visitors.

The away side belied their form of the season to reach 307 for six, with Omar Qureshi (126 not out) the star.

Despite Wells’ best efforts though, the visitors escaped with a draw.

Buckhurst Hill Thirds were held to a frustrating draw by Ilford Thirds.

Aniket Patel (55) opened brightly but the runs dried up somewhat before David Roberts hit 35.

Thirty-six extras went the way of Buckhurst, who reached 215 for nine; Malik Rehman claiming four for 38.

Hosts Ilford could not find their rhythm with the bat, with only Jasdeep Daheley (35 not out) and Muhammad Kazmi (26) making notable contributions.

Ash Mohammed took three for 21 but Ilford held out on 138 for eight.

Third XI Division One

Wanstead and Snaresbrook Fourths fell further behind the promotion pace after a 100-run loss at Hornchurch Thirds.

Lee Bones (55) and Mike Keanly (27) opened well for the hosts, who saw Lowell Mason (30) and Jim Dale (42) contribute to a total of 235 for seven before declaring.

Muhammad Arish was the most effective bowler for the visitors, taking three for 37.

Wanstead faltered with the bat and but for some runs from the middle order, could have been beaten even more comprehensively.

Jayden Rising (42), Jay Williams (15) and Aman Ali (14) were the only batsmen to reach double figures as Wanstead were dismissed for 135.

Jordan Proud finished with three for 20.

Eighty from Shahrukh Irfan was not enough as Fives and Heronians Thirds lost by five wickets at Southend-on-Sea EMT Fourths.

Irfan (80) opened strongly but support was negligible until Sherwin Stanley (30 not out) came in at number eight.

Nigel Green finished with figures of six for 69 as Fives declared on 200 for seven.

In reply, Conor Merron fell six runs short of his century before Scott Elliott (26 not out) and Chris Gore (11 not out) carried Southend home with five to spare.

Chingford Thirds were narrowly beaten by Upminster Fourths, despite scoring just 71 runs.

Chris Knightly grabbed 17 for hosts Chingford en route to a meagre total of 71, with Billy Wright taking five for 43.

Upminster faced similar problems with the bat, reaching 72 with just one wicket in hand, largely thanks to Harjas Sagoo (15) and Stewart Hummond’s (13) contributions.

Richard Offord took five for 24 for Chingford.

Third XI Division Two

Harry Watson’s five-for ensured Loughton Thirds sit top of the table after a five-wicket win at Orsett Thirds.

Fifty-nine from George Pavitt and 27 from Bradley Boreham were the only significant scores as the hosts finished on 150, with Watson taking five for 32.

Connor Sorrell finished with two for just nine runs.

Less-than-convincing in their reply, Loughton leant heavily on Shoaib Khan (40) and Shyam Jarva (31) in putting together a total of 151 for five.

Ian Harrison took eight wickets to condemn West Essex Thirds to a nine-wicket home loss against Hadleigh and Thundersley Thirds.

Put into bat, the home side started poorly, with Harrison picking up wickets at regular intervals.

Paul Griffiths (45) and Colin Baxter (33) provided some respectability as the hosts were removed for 156.

Openers Paul Chesterton (95) and Jonathan Newnham (53) did much of the damage in response, as Hadleigh cruised to the win with 162 for one.

Third XI Division Three

Marco Hilario took four wickets as Loughton Fourths enjoyed an 86-run win at Brentwood Fourths.

Kieran Scarlioli (32) and Mohammed Ali (45) provided the mainstay of the Loughton innings, with the visitors reaching 202 before being removed.

Luke Brailey took four for 45 but his side’s batting display undermined his good work.

Finlay Denny opened with 32, though his teammates could not follow suit, crumbling to 116 all out.

Hilario (four for 15) was assisted by Mansoor Ahmad (three for 42) in dismantling the Brentwood line-up.

Fourth XI Premier Division

Chingford Fourths made some inroads on top spot with an 81-run victory at Benfleet Thirds.

Myles Joyce and Sean Green both grabbed 44 runs for the visitors, who were dismissed for 193.

Green then played a key role with the ball, taking five for 33 to reduce Benfleet to 112 all out.

Woodford Green Fourths continued their title assault with a 29-run home win over Basildon and Pitsea Thirds.

Opener Matt Trim (24) and third-man-in Chirag Trivedi (38) made the biggest contributions as the hosts were removed for 121.

Ishan Madan took five for 37 for Basildon, who would have been confident of bettering their hosts’ total.

Basildon started slowly and did not improve; Daniel Vanderputt top-scoring with just 22 en route to a total of just 92.

Ashok Patel took three wickets for just seven runs to clear out the tail end.

Euan Fay’s four for 15 proved in vain as Buckhurst Hill Fourths lost by three wickets at Leigh on Sea Thirds.

Fay had already contributed 40 runs to the Hill total of 139 all out before removing four of the visitors’ batsmen.

Mohammed Raza (57 not out) carried the away side to a winning total of 141 for seven in reply.

Fourth XI Division One

Oakfield Parkonians Thirds put some welcome distance between themselves and the relegation zone with a five-wicket defeat of Orsett Fourths.

Visitors Orsett declared on 173 for seven, with David Jacks (52) and David Cracknell (53 not out) providing big contributions.

Sixty-four from Ronan Karuna at number three and a further 58 from Adam Goldman pushed Parks out to 174 for five to an important win.

Fives and Heronians Fourths remain in the relegation mire after James Stitson’s inspired unbeaten 157 saw Horndon on the Hill Thirds to a 157-run win.

Stitson smashed 24 fours on his way to the best knock – and the first century – of his Essex League career, as Horndon declared on 241 for four.

Richard Jasper took four wickets for Horndon, who were only briefly threatened by 39 from Andre Byfield as Fives were removed for 84.

Fourth XI Division Three

Oakfield Parkonians Fourths were left disappointed after a draw at Ilford Fifths slowed their promotion push.

Having posted 185 for three, visitors Parks could not remove their hosts, who clung on with a score of 142 for eight.

The draw leaves Parks fourth, three points off the promotion places.

Herts and Essex League Division Four

One hundred and twenty eight from Reece Hanna guided High Beach to a 60-run win over Nazeing Common Seconds.

Twelve sixes helped Hanna to 128 before being well caught. Gurdeep Farma added a further 42 as the hosts finished on 284 for five.

Mark Plume was the most effective wicket taker for Nazeing, claiming three for fifty.

Both Nazeing openers went cheaply, leaving the visitors in trouble from the outset; John Gregory claiming both wickets.

Mark Sturdy (65) put up a good fight before being bowled by Mickey Evans as the wickets were shared around.

Hanna starred in the field too, taking four catches as Beach restricted their visitors to a final total of 224 for nine.
