Leyton Orient have bolstered their striking options with the addition of former Arsenal and West Brom striker Jay Simpson on a three-year contract.

The 25-year-old forward returns to England to join the O’s after a brief spell with Thai side, Buriram United.

Enfield-born Simpson began his professional career with Arsenal but never made a league appearance for the Gunners before leaving the Emirates Stadium in 2010.

The 5ft 11in forward spent time away from the North London outfit on loan at Millwall, West Bromwich Albion and Queens Park Rangers, enjoying varying degrees of success.

Twelve league goals in 34 league starts for the R’s during the 2009/10 season proved to be Simpson’s best season in front of goal to date.

Simpson left Arsenal in 2010 to join Hull City on a permanent basis, scoring 12 league goals in 46 starts for the Tigers in three years at the KC Stadium.

A regular as the Yorkshire outfit won promotion to the Premier League during the 2012/13 season, Simpson joins Buriram United on a two-year deal in September 13 and scored his first goal in the Kor Royal Cup win over Muangthong United.

The forward also won the Thai Premier League in 2013 but scored just one league goal in ten starts during the 2013/14 campaign, also playing in the Asian Champions League.

Speaking to the club’s website, Simpson said: "I'm delighted. It's a club that is going places and I want to be a part of it."
