West Ham have made an offer for wantaway Sunderland striker Connor Wickham, according to Sky Sports.
It is understood the 21-year-old has not been offered an improved deal by the Black Cats, with his contract running out in 12 months.
Sunderland boss Gus Poyet said: “For me, Connor’s situation is clear. He needs to sign a new contract or we let him go – we sell him. There is nothing in between.”
The Hammers have been alerted to Wickham’s current situation and the player could be available for around £6m.
The England Under-21 starlet scored a number of vital goals to ensure Sunderland’s Premier League safety after spending the first half of last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and Leeds United.
