Woodford Green with Essex Ladies’ Tiffany Porter recorded a season’s best time en-route to the final of the European Championships 100m hurdles on Tuesday evening.
The 26-year-old Michigan-born athlete, competing for Team GB, won heat two at the semi-final stage in a time of 12.63 to secure her place in Wednesday’s final.
Porter beat Belgian Anne Zagre, who finished in second place, by two tenths of a second, whilst Belarusian Alina Talay came home in third place with a time of 12.94 to claim the third qualifying spot from the second heat.
Coached by Rana Reider, Porter has not previously won a medal at the European Outdoor Athletics Championships, though recently claimed silver representing England at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
The final of the women’s 100m hurdles is scheduled for 9.34pm on Wednesday evening.
Woodford Green team-mate, Shana Cox, is in action on Saturday in the women’s 4x400m relay qualifying.
