Woodford Green with Essex Ladies’ Tiffany Porter won the first major title of her career at the European Championships in Zurich this evening, scooping gold in the 100m hurdles.

The 26-year-old crossed the line in 12.76, enough to put her three hundredths of a second ahead of France’s Cindy Billaud in second place.

Germany’s Cindy Roleder rounded off the top three with a time of 12.82.

Speaking after her win, Porter said: "This is very special, I'd not won gold before so I'm thrilled to finally get one.

"When you see your team-mates doing so well it really spurs you on in your event. It's very satisfying to win."

Porter’s maiden gold follows on from the silver medal she won at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow earlier this month.
