Premier Division

Nick Browne made 160 as South Woodford thrashed Upminster by 105 runs on Saturday.

An innings which included 17 fours and four sixes saw opener Browne hit a huge 160 from just 150 balls before being dismissed.

Michael Gymer added 32 further down the order before James Malin (58) scored a half-century of his own to steer the visitors to 298 for six.

It was then the turn of Bradley Copper to star with the ball for South Woodford. He took seven for 51 to tear through the Upminster batting line-up.

Shahbaz Butt hit 68 and Farid Butt made 34 as the home side were dismissed for 193.

An uncharacteristically poor display with the bat saw Wanstead and Snaresbrook held to a draw at home to Chelmsford.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first, with opener Dan Hagen scoring 86.

Mohammed Fayyaz-Khan played a key role in restricting Chelmsford as he took five for 45 from 17.1 overs.

It was Khan who dismissed Hagen before Usman Sahar (four for 71) claimed the wickets of Chris Prowting (23) and Miles Clark (39), who finished on 226 all out.

Wanstead got off to a faltering start with the bat as Arfan Akram (4) and Saurav Prabhakar (1) were removed cheaply.

Nikunj Velani (22) and Jonathan Das (36) did then manage to put some runs together, before Joe Ellis-Grewal (20 not out) and Sahar (25) carried the hosts’ total to 136 for eight. Sam Cook took three for 38 for the visitors.

Chingford won by 96 runs at home to Shenfield to maintain their position in the automatic promotion places.

Put into bat, Chingford made 194 for nine from 47 overs before bowling their visitors out for just 98.

Loughton remain just above the relegation zone after a one-run loss at Brentwood.

The hosts struggled with the bat initially and lost their openers for a total of just one run. Dave Hammond came to the crease and managed 51 before Tom Oakley weighed in with 43 late on.

Arslan Shahid (three for 52) and Bilal Butt (three for 71) had some joy with the ball but could not prevent the hosts reaching 192 before being bowled out.

The Loughton reply was built around Mahmad Ali Khail (44) and Rishi Patel (46) before the run-rate began to slow and the visitors were removed for 191 - just two short of the win.

Ian Belchamber took six for 62 for the home side.

Division One

Raymond Parkinson’s unbeaten century steered Buckhurst Hill to a 14-run win over Woodford Wells.

Joe Johnson helped Wells to an encouraging start, making 72. Peter McDermott hit 21 before Grant McEwan smashed a quick-fire 76 from just 41 balls, which included six fours and five sixes.

Rohan Bhome finished with figures of four for 68 for the home side.

With both openers dismissed for ducks and the third in, Alexander Maskall, removed for just eight, it fell to Parkinson (116) to steady the ship.

Joe Slisz’s 23 from the tail proved important as Buckhurst were removed for 219. Jonathan Gaffney (three for 40) returned the best bowling figures for Wells.

Division Two

A below-par performance with the bat condemned West Essex to a 37-run loss at home to Belhus, which leaves them in the relegation zone.

Zohair Jan (two for 27) made early breakthroughs with the ball for hosts West Essex but 33 from Roy Heffernan and Michael Fogg’s 43 moved the score along for Belhus.

Wahid Mahmood (three for 31) tidied up the tail to help remove the hosts for 172.

However, West Essex were less-than-impressive with the bat and were removed for 135.

Ayaz Qureshi (23) and Riz Akbar (37) offered some brief resistance but were unable to prevent West Essex falling to another defeat, as Martin Guilbert took five for 28.

Sixty-nine from Gary Edwards was not enough to prevent Fives and Heronians falling to a 94-run loss at home to Leigh-on-Sea.

The away side were put into bat first and Fives were not able to turn the screw at any point, with Greg Summers (two for 49) returning the best figures with the ball.

Sixty-two from Harry Slack and 85 from Joe Sexton carried Leigh-on-Sea to a competitive score of 285 for eight.

Though Edwards (69) and Ballard (21) put together a good opening partnership, the rest of the order failed to follow suit and the innings quickly collapsed.

A late knock of 29 from Ben Britton offered a glimmer of hope but all too soon the hosts were dismissed for 191. Patrick Groves (four for 27) was the chief tormentor.

Division Three

Some fine middle-order hitting eased Woodford Green to a two-wicket win at Basildon and Pitsea.

Chirag Pithia (three for 34) and Sahir Akbar (three for 39) got stuck into the Basildon line-up and, but for a flurry of runs in the middle-order, did well to restrict their hosts.

Jon Bonnett (38) top-scored as Basildon reached 174 all out.

Having seen their first four batsmen make 11 runs between them, Woodford Green could have been forgiven for thinking it was not going to be their day. However, Sean Martin (34), Anthony Palmer (34) and Matthew Field (24) dragged the visitors to 178 for eight.

Dean Bedford took three for 29 for the home side.

A dire batting display saw Oakfield Parkonians beaten by four wickets at home to Harlow Town.

Batting first, the only Parks batsmen to hit double figures were Sachin Vara (10) and Jibran Azam (35), as the hosts were dismissed for a meagre 72.

Harlow made tough work of bettering Parks’ score but they reached 75 with four wickets in hand despite Paran Kalley (four for 30) attempting to cause an upset.

Second XI Premier Division

Chingford Seconds won at Shenfield Seconds by five wickets despite William Appleton’s knock of 91 for the hosts.

Appleton opened and fell nine short of his century before Haris Mahmood (47) and Mike Hindley (30) pushed the home side’s total out to 211 for seven before declaring.

Neill Dial took three for 63 and Kerry Marriott finished with figures of three for 73 for Chingford.

Zishan Rehman (42) and Matthew O’Sullivan (15) put on a decent score for the opening wicket and 56 from Christopher Stephens furthered enhanced the Chingford total.

James Hill hit 47 as the visitors reached 215 with five wickets in hand.

Feroze Khushi fell two short of his century as Wanstead and Snaresbrook Seconds slipped to a 29-run loss at Chelmsford Seconds.

Put into bat first, Chelmsford’s Gary Chidley scored 50 from 59 deliveries to get the home side going.

Jack Lord helped himself to three for just 23 before Robert Hayto added a knock of 60 to help push the home side’s score up to 225 all out.

Azhar Janjua also enjoyed success with the ball as he claimed four for 77.

Forty-three from Mahesh Velani and 98 from Khushi - from just 96 deliveries - looked to be the basis of a good total from the visitors before a batting collapse saw them slip to just 196 all out.

Hayto played a key role in dismissing Wanstead as he took five for 73.

Second XI Division One

Loughton Seconds remain top of the table after an eight-wicket win over Fives and Heronians Seconds.

Having won the toss and electing to bat, Fives made an inconsistent start. Neil Braithwaite opened with 24 before the next three batsmen were removed for just 11 runs.

Graham Neary put on 20 and James McKay added 25 to the total but the visitors could only reach 136 before being removed. Abdul Nasir (three for 27) and Wajahat Bukhari (three for 32) played key roles in keeping the Fives’ total down.

Fifty not out from Fahad Anwar and an unbeaten 77 from Ayas Younis provided the backbone of the Loughton total. The hosts reached a winning score of 137 for two.

Woodford Wells Seconds are second in the table after a comfortable nine-wicket win over Orsett Seconds.

Visitors Orsett opted to bat first but soon rued the decision when Debayan Dasgupta ripped into their batting order as he claimed four for 15.

Scott Douglas hit 26 and Sandeep Chavda made 27 but the resistance from the rest of the side was minimal and they were removed for 120.

William Rodgers scored an unbeaten 82 in reply and laid the foundations for victory. He was aided by Robert Leiper who helped Wells reach 123 for one.

South Woodford Seconds were made to pay for an awful display with the bat in a 166-run thrashing at home to Upminster Thirds.

Batting first, Upminster built steadily through Harry Jenkins (21) and Louis Pickering (30) before Junaid Sarwar hit 73 which included seven fours and three sixes.

Robert White (48) and Nicky Ison (35) pushed the Upminster score up to 237 for eight as the South Woodford bowling attack struggled to remove key wickets.

The hosts were also unable to build any momentum with the bat, with only Asher Gilani (34) hitting double figures.

Scott Fisher (seven for 29) made minimal fuss of removing South Woodford for 71.

Second XI Division Two

West Essex Seconds remain in the relegation zone despite a three-wicket win over Belhus Seconds.

Visitors Belhus batted first and posted a competitive total of 238 for seven before declaring.

West Essex replied with 240 for seven as time ran out.

Sam Davies made a century as Woodford Green Seconds beat Basildon and Pitsea Seconds by 11 runs.

With openers Omar Ahmad (1) and Barry Leigh (10) dismissed cheaply, it fell to Davies (108) to kick-start the innings, before Amish Patel stepped up to score 50.

Neil De Silva took five for 100 for the visitor as Woodford declared on 245 for eight.

Steven Ayres (57) and Philip Murdoch (39) opened well for the away side, who were building towards a competitive total.

Zain Ul-Abbidin then displayed his credentials with the ball as he took six wickets to remove Basildon for 234.

Oakfield Parkonians Seconds were comfortably beaten by seven wickets against top-of-the-league Harlow Town.

Parks made a poor start and lost their opening two batsmen for just two wickets.

Thirty-eight from Haaris Shah and 29 from Sanjay Handa pushed the visitors’ score out to 143 all out.

Harlow reached 145 for the loss of just three wickets.

Epping Seconds are still in the relegation zone following a comfortable five-wicket defeat at Horndon on the Hill Seconds.

Put into bat after losing the toss, Epping were bowled out for 188. Horndon then lost five wickets en-route to a winning total of 191.

Third XI Premier Division

An unbeaten knock of 94 from Jayden Rising saw Wanstead and Snaresbrook Thirds secure a two-wicket win over Hainault and Clayhall Thirds.

Hainault got off to a solid start with the bat as Owais Abdur-Rehman (40) and Rahat Mansha (55) scored freely.

Muhammed Atif (five for 64) and Nabeel Aziz (three for 31) helped restrict the flow of runs, though Ashfaq Ahmad still managed 51 as the visitors hit 217 for eight before declaring.

Naail Dar struck 36 and Aryan Gupta made 26 before a collapse ensued, undermining Wanstead’s quest for the win until Rising reached 94 late on.

Shafiq took four for 55 but the hosts closed on 218 for eight to win.

South Woodford Thirds remain in the relegation zone after a 55-run defeat at Upminster Thirds.

Opting to bat first, hosts Upminster scored slowly and were well restricted by Saihaj Jaspal, who took four for 35 for the visitors.

Peter Thompson (28) and Mike Harrison (25) made the biggest contributions to a total of 160 for nine before declaration.

The top of the South Woodford order failed to deliver runs in reply, with William Hutchins (17) at number six the first batsman to hit double figures.

Prishant Roy (24) and Gordon Clarke (22) did their best to avoid the inevitable as the away side were removed for 105. Daniel Tyler took four for 34 for the hosts.

Buckhurst Hill Thirds held on to draw with Woodford Wells Thirds.

Batting first, Wells were bowled out for 188 before Hill held onto their remaining three wickets to close on 148 for seven.

Third XI Division One

David Terrace hit 105 as Chingford Thirds eased past Chelmsford Fourths by 14 runs.

The runs flowed for the hosts as Terrace (105) and Mark Campbell (44) opened strongly.

Thirty-four from Paul Warren and a further 24 from Daniel Carver helped the home side to a total of 269 for nine before they decided to declare.

Phil Arnold made 72 before being bowled by Richard Offord - the first of the Chingford man’s six-wicket haul.

Despite knocks of 57 from James Burns and 56 from Stephen Pleasant, the home side could only make 255 as they came up short.

Fives and Heronians Thirds took a step closer to safety with a 34-run home win over Upminster Fourths - despite having ten players.

The hosts belied their form and numerical disadvantage to dig out and important win. They posted 169 from their 50 overs.

In reply, Upminster were restricted to 135 and the result means Fives are just four points from safety.

Third XI Division Two

Kieran Scarlioli scored 74 to help Loughton Thirds to a five-run success over Gidea Park and Romford Thirds.

Loughton’s Naved Ali (7) was removed early before Scarlioli hit 74.

The runs dried up from there as Paul Winmill (four for 46) and Nikhil Bhandari (four for 47) took charge with the ball.

Jonathan Almond provided 31 late on as the visitors closed on 176 all out.

Ahmed Zaman (three for 33) prevented the away side from settling into any sort of rhythm with the bat, though Hassan Khan (31) and Russ Collard (32) gradually built the score with Gidea Park falling short with 171 all out.

S. Sajid top scored with 83 to guide West Essex Thirds to a 24-run triumph over Wickford Thirds.

Eighty-three from Sajid went some way to compensating for the collapse which followed as the next five batsmen accrued just 15 runs between them.

Twenty-one from Yakub Qazi helped improve the home side’s total to 157 all out but it should have been more following their bright start.

Wickford were as underwhelming at the crease and saw only three batsmen reach double figures.

Anil Clarke was in fine form with the ball and claimed four for 44 to reduce the visitors to 133 all out; Neale Anderson (55) their highest scorer.

Fourth XI Premier Division

Woodford Green Thirds remain top of the division after easing to a six-wicket win over Upminster Thirds.

Put into bat, visitors Upminster were under pressure from the off with William Rowlands (two for 22) reducing them to 15 for two.

Further wickets tumbled, with Michael Larke’s 36 a rare bright spot in a total of 125 all out.

Woodford made a slow start with the bat before Gisli Bergmann (22) and Mitul Bhatt (60) steered the hosts to victory with 126 for four.

Fourth XI Division One

Oakfield Parkonians Thirds were comfortably beaten by five wickets by promotion hopefuls Horndon on the Hill Thirds.

Inserted into bat, Parks began well as Gurmit Bhatia (55) and Ronan Karunakaran (41) laid solid foundations.

However, the middle-order collapsed and the tail-end made a minimal contribution as the home side were dismissed for 172. Kevin Paget (five for 53) proved the thorn in Oakfield’s side.

Despite using eight bowlers, Parks never looked like dismantling the Horndon line-up as Mark Witts (64) led the visitors to 173 for five.

Fourth XI Division Two

Mohammed Zubair’s century was not enough to help Epping Thirds beat Harlow Town Fourths as the two played out a draw.

Opening alongside Tony Sanderson (19), Zubair hit 110 before knocks of 26 and 25 respectively from Dhruv Narula and Arwinder Singh Mann.

Epping declared on 255 for six in an attempt to bowl their visitors out.

Aaron Simpson opened with 43 while George Richardson contributed 42 to a total of 155 for four.

Zubair took two for 22 but Harlow maintained a steady pace to draw.
