Second XI Premier Division

Buckhurst Hill Seconds remain in the relegation zone after only managing a draw against Upminster.

James Evans opened the batting for Upminster with 57, before important knocks from Elliot Bussey (50 not out) and Paul Hogg (38).

Daniel Platt’s four for 79 helped Buckhurst restrict their visitors to 217 for six.

David Roberts got the Buckhurst reply off to a good start, hitting a half-century before the middle order faltered.

Alan Dantes scored 31 as the wickets continued to tumble with disconcerting ease; Buckhurst just managing to hold on for a draw with a total of 163 for nine.

Nicky Ison returned the best figures for Upminster, taking five for 45.

Wanstead and Snaresbrook Seconds remain second after a five-wicket win at home to South Woodford Seconds.

The visitors won the toss and batted first, making 186 before being removed.

Wanstead took the points by reaching 187 with five wickets in hand.

Second XI Division One

Andrew Bridges took six wickets to help Loughton Seconds to a seven-wicket success at Hadleigh and Thundersley Seconds.

The hosts began in encouraging fashion, with Darius Vapiwala (23) and Richard Haring (35) putting on a respectable partnership.

The runs quickly began to dry up though, with Bridges (six for 45) to the fore. Wajahat Bukhari finished with figures of three for 30 to restrict the home side to 161 all out.

Fahad Anwar (61) laid the foundations for the Loughton innings, with Tom Turner (25) and Asim Aslam (20) pushing the visitors’ total out to 164 for three.

Fives and Heronians Seconds fell just short of Wickford Seconds’ total as they were held to a home draw.

Daniel Rouse hit 98 not out for Wickford, who also saw Jack Cubit make an invaluable 82 en route to a total of 223 for six before declaring.

Hugo Blogg (79) got the Fives’ reply off on a good footing and a further 46 from Gary Norris had the home side well on their way before the run rate dropped off and Fives closed on 209 for eight.

Woodford Wells Seconds fell to a 95-run loss at Hainault and Clayhall Seconds but they still remain in the automatic promotion places.

Hosts Hainault made 252 for six before declaring, with Wells only able to reach 157 before being bowled out.

Second XI Division Two

West Essex Seconds claimed a narrow two-wicket win at home to Ardleigh Green Seconds, leaving the visitors in the relegation zone.

A total of 215 all out from Ardleigh was bettered by West Essex with two wickets to spare; the hosts hitting 216 for eight.

Second XI Division Three

Epping kept themselves above the drop zone after drawing at Basildon and Pitsea Seconds.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Epping struggled to build any momentum with the bat and aside from Bhavesh Dharmani’s 48, found runs hard to come by.

However, some fine lower-order hitting eased the visitors to 281 all out, with Umesh Malik (64) and Vaibhav Gadhvi (50) providing crucial scores.

Mike Blerkom’s 52 got the Basildon innings underway before 60 from Mark Amos helped boost their total to 184 for six.

Dharmani took two for 32.

Woodford Green Seconds were beaten by two wickets at home to Horndon on the Hill Seconds in a low-scoring affair.

Batting first, the home side were removed for just 93, though Horndon did lose five wickets en route to their winning total.

Third XI Premier Division

Umer Ashraf scored 80 runs to help Woodford Wells Thirds to a three-wicket win against Hainault and Clayhall Thirds.

Visitors Hainault collapsed after a strong start which saw Rahat Mansha (34) and Shaib Khwaja (42) score well.

However Wells’ Robert Smith (four for 34) and Haaris Sohoye (four for 24) fought back with the ball to remove their visitors for 193.

A stuttering start was quickly forgotten when Ashraf came to the crease, making an unbeaten 80 to provide the backbone of the hosts’ 194 for seven.

A poor batting display from South Woodford Thirds saw them fall to a seven-wicket defeat at home to Wanstead and Snaresbrook Thirds.

The home side won the toss and batted first but were rapidly undone by Hitesh Tailor (four for 21) and Muhammed Atif (three for four).

Opener Robert Lancaster made 13 but Gordon Clarke (17) was the only other South Woodford batsman to reach double figures in a lowly total of 65.

Two early wickets for Saihaj Jaspal (two for 28) gave South Woodford cause for optimism before Bilal Patel (26) eased the visitors to 69 for three.

Buckhurst Hill Thirds suffered a five-wicket reverse at the hands of Upminster Thirds.

Batting first after being inserted into bat, Hill were removed for a paltry 77 before Upminster surpassed the total with five wickets in hand.

Third XI Division One

Aman Ali’s six-wicket haul helped Wanstead and Snaresbrook Fourths to a three-wicket success at Chingford Thirds.

Paul Warren hit 65 to open the innings in fine style and further knocks of 52 and 49 from Daniel Carver and Amir Khan respectively looked to have set the visitors on course for a big total.

However, a batting collapse saw them slump to 187 all out, with Ali (six for 51) pivotal.

Danny Mead (74) and Barney Mead (38) put on a good stand for the first wicket before another slump saw Wanstead creep home on 188 for seven.

A five-wicket loss at home to Harold Wood Thirds meant Fives and Heronians Thirds were unable to pull themselves out the relegation zone.

The home side were dire with the bat and made just 81 before being dismissed, with Abbas Mirza (22) and Kasey Cummings (16) top-scoring.

Chris Clarke took four for 25 and Billy Winters claimed three for 18 to provide the platform for Wood to ease home.

George Bryant hit 49 to guide the visitors to 84 for three.

Third XI Division Two

Zain Saleem fell one run short of his century as West Essex Thirds drew with Loughton Thirds.

Batting at number three, Saleem hit 99 for the visitors, who were struggling for runs until Rehan Shamim scored an unbeaten 56 at number 11.

An additional 40 runs in extras meant the away side closed on 262 for nine.

Of the eight Loughton bowlers to have a spell at the crease, it was only Connor Sorrell (three for 47) who had any success with the ball.

Naved Ali scored 50 to get the Loughton innings off to a strong start but the runs failed to flow from there and James Crowe (53) made the only other sizeable contribution.

Anil Clarke proved to be the biggest threat with the ball, taking four for 84.

Fourth XI Division Two

Epping Thirds were soundly beaten at home to Loughton Fifths, going down to a six-wicket defeat.

Inserted into bat first, Epping struggled to reach a meagre total of 86 all out, with Mohammed Zubair’s knock of 20 the high point.

Lynn Ninan took three for 16 for Loughton, whilst Angad Nijar also got stuck in with three for 18.

Loughton’s reply was built around Avnish Jani (37) and Jeevan Nijar (26), who carried their side to 87 for four, despite the best efforts of Zubair (three for 38).
