Russell Slade could preside over his final match as Leyton Orient manager on Tuesday night when the O’s travel to Notts County.

The 53-year-old revealed after Orient’s 2-0 defeat by Colchester United on Saturday he had been informed by sporting director Mauro Milanese he had one match to “sort it out” or it would be “curtains” for him at Brisbane Road.

Looking ahead to Tuesday’s clash in Nottingham, Slade confirmed the situation had not changed since Saturday.

He told the club’s website: “No, it’s exactly the same. It’s been clarified so we know where we stand. There are certain things you can’t control; nobody can control everything but what you can do is you can be responsible for how you respond. And that is what we are looking for – a good response from all of us – staff, players, everybody."

Slade succeeded Geraint Williams as O’s boss in April 2010 and despite two seventh-place finishes and a trip to Wembley in the League 1 play-off final, the former teacher is facing the sack after an underwhelming start to the season.

With only six points gained from a possible 18, the O’s sit a place and a point outside of the relegation zone and speaking after Saturday’s loss against the U’s, Slade admitted he had been given one match to save his job.

He said: “The president has been honest enough, via Mauro Milanese, to tell me that I have got – we have got – one game to sort it out. So hopefully we get a response on Tuesday.”

Asked to confirm whether the ultimatum related directly to his future at Brisbane Road, Slade said: “Yes, in terms of my future. Obviously it is not a great result for the football club and these things can happen but obviously the president will want better than that and of course we all want better than that.

“We have to look at the bigger picture – not just the short-term picture but the situation is we need to get a win on Tuesday or that will be curtains.”

Romain Vincelot will return from suspension, whilst Dean Cox and Jobi McAnuff, who were both given cameos against Colchester, will be assessed ahead of the trip to Nottingham.

The O’s travel to Meadow Lane knowing only a win will keep manager Slade in a job until the weekend.

Shaun Derry’s side sit in 14th place in League 1 after winning, losing and drawing two games apiece.

County claimed a creditable goalless draw at second-place Peterborough United on Saturday and after conceding just five in six games, boast the joint-second best defence in the division.

Derry will be without the experienced Hayden Mullins, who has played at centre-back this season, meaning Louis Laing – signed on loan from Nottingham Forest – should continue at the back.

Blair Adams (thigh) is a doubt, whilst Jimmy Spencer (knee) has been ruled out for the season.
