Romain Vincelot hopes Russell Slade stays at Brisbane Road but insists all the speculation surrounding his future is not affecting the players.

The Orient manager is the odds-on favourite for the Cardiff City job and the O’s have already turned down three approaches for the O’s boss.

French midfielder Vincelot , pictured, was brought to the club by Slade and wants their manager to remain with them. But despite losing at home to Sheffield United in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday, Vincelot does not believe the managerial situation is distracting the team.

Vincelot said: “I want him to stay here. I think there are a lot of things going on. As a player I just want to play the game and have a good manager with us.

“I don’t think it’s right for me or any player to speak about it because we don’t have a clue. I think you media know more than us or try to make up more than us. Obviously he’s done a really good job so I wish he’s going to be with us.

“When he comes in we just speak about the game. If there is something else then it’s not our business. As a professional he just does his job so we have no information and cannot guess.

“Our job is to be good on the pitch and you can’t say we weren’t at it tonight or thinking about something else. It was the same as in the dressing room the other day so it’s business as usual.”

The former Brighton & Hove Albion midfielder was asked how big a blow it would be if Slade left the club but Vincelot refused to speculate.

He said: “Once again it’s speculation so ask me the question if and when something happens. Then I will answer it but it’s not my job to talk about something that hasn’t happened. It’s speculation at the minute so I don’t want to speak about it.”
