Leyton Orient caretaker boss Kevin Nugent admitted his side capitulated as they threw away a lead to lose 3-2 at home to ten-man Rochdale.
The O's led 2-1 at half-time but somehow managed to squander their advantage as their winless start to the season at Brisbane Road dragged on.
Nugent said: "We seemed to absolutely capitulate really but it was two goals in the second half that you really wouldn't expect to happen and it did. We had enough chances to win the game but we conceded poor goals through poor defending.
"We found ourselves in a similar position recently as well and the same mistakes have cost us once again. It was actually from our set piece that the other team have broken away and scored and it's really cost us. What can you say?"
Nugent opted to drop captain Nathan Clarke for the match but praised the defender's attitude for accepting the decision.
He said: "It was a decision I made. He's an absolutely fantastic professional and as always he handled it very well."
