Old Loughtonians suffered a 3-1 defeat to Teddington in the NOW: Pensions Men’s Hockey League Conference East on Saturday.

It was Teddington who were first to convert when Graham Anderson picked up a clearance to make it 1-0. Good passing between the visitors saw them make it quickly 2-0 but James Jewell won and converted a short corner to give Old Loughtonians hope.

The hosts piled on the pressure in the second half but could not find a second goal.

Alex Hardwick, in goal, also made some outstanding saves for the side. Teddington were awarded a short corner in the dying seconds and it was converted to clinch the win.

The Old Loughts team will be disappointed not to have converted chances, which leaves them in ninth place in the league. The next day saw Old Loughtonians beaten 6-3 in the EH Cup at Canterbury.

It was also a disappointing day on Saturday when Old Loughtonians ladies were narrowly defeated 2-1 by their promotion rivals West Herts at Luxborough Lane.
