Nine-man Redbridge were knocked out of the London Senior Cup after suffering a first round 2-1 defeat against London Bari.

The Motormen made a bright start to Tuesday’s contest but were unable to break the deadlock in the opening period.

Bari improved in the second half and they took the lead around the hour mark, before Redbridge pulled level as Mark Nougher dispatched a penalty.

Leon Smith and Nougher were then both dismissed for the visitors, which allowed Bari to grab a second through Tony Cookie and secure their spot in the next round.

There was also disappointment for Redbridge on Saturday as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Thurrock in Ryman North.

The Motormen fell behind in the 17th minute. Lamar Reynolds was brought down in the box and Mark Onyemah dispatched the resultant penalty.

Former Barnet striker Charlie Stimson then struck twice in quick succession to put Thurrock in full control of the contest.

Redbridge did pull a goal back before the interval as Vinny Murphy curled home a sumptuous free-kick.

Ricky Eaton and Dave Ross’ side could have further reduced the deficit in the second period. Brian Moses struck the post before heading wide, while Charlie Parish wasted a presentable opportunity.

The defeat leaves the Motormen 17th in the table. They visit Great Wakering Rovers on Saturday.
