Eton Manor extended their unbeaten run to eight games after romping to a 60-6 win at Romford & Gidea Park in League One North on Saturday.

The visitors won the game comfortably without ever hitting top gear. But it was Romford who opened the scoring when they were awarded a penalty and this was converted after less than two minutes.

Eton Manor took the lead for the first time when Peter Bicknell crashed through several tackles and set up Michael Eghan for their first try of the match.

The visitors extended their advantage when Stephen Ross showed an excellent turn of pace on the wing and powered over the line for the converted score.

Romford responded strongly and their pressure resulted in a penalty in front of the posts, which narrowed the deficit to 12-6.

Eton Manor ran in their third try of the contest when the ball was worked out to Eghan and he raced over the line to stretch their lead.

The away side wrapped up the bonus point before half-time when Bicknell broke through two tackles and crossed the line. The conversion was missed but Manor still had a 22-6 lead at the break.

At the start of the second half Romford were penalised in front of their own posts and Manor opted for a scrum. The ball was fed out to Ross Reed, on his first appearance of the season, and he ran through the defence for the converted try.

It got worse for the hosts when their centre was shown a yellow card for a professional foul. The visitors took full advantage as the ball was sent out to Eghan and he raced clear to score his third of the match. Callum McKie added the extras, making the score 36-6.

Manor didn’t have to wait long for their next trys, and it came from a Romford scrum on the halfway line. Again their front row destroyed Romford’s and eventually Jack Knowles picked up the ball and his pace took him over the line for the converted effort.

With quick ball set up from a ruck on Romford’s 22, Manor scored again when the ball was fed through the hands to substitute Ben Lockyer, who went over in the corner, despite the attentions of covering defenders.

Another mistake by Romford resulted in their prop being sent to the sin bin.

From the resulting penalty, Manor took a scrums and Bicknell drew his man perfectly before feeding Eghan, who again powered over for his fourth try.

The scoring wasn’t finished there as a superb cross-field kick from McKie fell into the path of Reed and he outpaced the defenders to finish off the attack.

Eton Manor will attempt to maintain their impressive form this weekend with a home clash against Brentwood.
