Waltham Forest bounced back from defeat at the weekend to record a 5-3 victory over Eton Manor in the Essex Senior League Premier Division on Tuesday night.

Forest started the contest brightly and deservedly broke the deadlock when Luke Ifil put Solomon Ofori in on goal and he confidently finished.

The hosts then doubled their advantage. Hassana Traore was felled in the penalty area and he took the resulting spot-kick which he dispatched with ease.

Eton Manor pulled a goal back before the interval but Forest led 2-1 at the break.

After the restart, Jose Agua scored a third for Forest but again Manor reduced the deficit. However, the hosts then took control and Agua netted Waltham Forest’s fourth of the contest before the points were assured when Ifil dribbled past three defenders before firing home.

It was a welcome result for fourth-placed Forest who, on Saturday, lost 3-2 against Romania FC.

Forest led at the interval thanks to Famory Kamissoko’s strike but Romania notched twice in quick succession via Sergio Petariou and Tashan Brown.

Ofori struck to level the game with eight minutes remaining but Petru Budian’s late goal sealed victory for the visitors.
