A last-gasp score from Reece Reed saw Eton Manor snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, beating Barking 19-16 in London League One North on Saturday.

Visitors Barking made a strong start and took the lead after 12 minutes when, following a scrum, the ball was worked out wide to their winger to cross. The try was converted.

Barking continued to hold the upper hand and extended their advantage with a penalty after 25 minutes to make it 10-0.

That score saw Manor spring into action and they reduced the deficit ten minutes later when Peter Bicknell received Callum McKie’s pass and went over. McKie added the extras, making it 13-7.

Having ended the first half on the back foot, Manor were penalised within five minutes of the restart as Barking kicked one penalty and missed a second.

Manor gradually began to improve and with 15 minutes remaining got within two points of their visitors when Michael Eghan blasted past the Barking full-back to score; McKie converting.

The winning score came at the death as Reed seized possession from the base of the the scrum and charged over the line from 30 metres for a brilliant individual try, marking his return from an eight-week lay-off in ideal fashion.

Trailing league-leaders Colchester by three points, Manor travel to Ruislip on Saturday.
