Dean Cox insists Orient’s players are ready for the uphill battle of securing their status as a League One club.

The winger scored a goal in the 11th minute of injury time on Saturday to secure a dramatic 3-2 victory at Chesterfield and lift them off the bottom of the table.

The O’s were on course to pick up a hard-earned point at the Proact Stadium but Cox profited from a mistake by home goalkeeper Tommy Lee to snatch a crucial victory.

Cox could have been excused for getting caught up in the emotion of the win after such a tough season but the Orient talisman remains focused on building on their first victory in 2015.

He said: “It’s a good start but it’s only a start. We’re not going to get carried away and there’s a lot of work to do.

“We’re not stupid. We’re not going to get carried away. It’s a great three points and we’ll go back down the road and recover.

"But we’re taking every game as it comes. There’s plenty of points to play for and I think now we just want to get safe and however we do that I don’t think anyone cares.

“Hopefully we can become a bit more convincing and not makes fans wait until the 11th minute of injury time. We’re delighted but we know it’s an uphill battle but we’re up for it.”

The O's host Bradford tonight and a win will take them outside the relegation zone.
