A worldwide tennis icon has launched his new gym range in Chigwell.

Eight-time grand slam champion Andre Agassi, 44, who was described upon his retirement as 'perhaps the biggest worldwide star in the sport's history', launched the BILT by Agassi & Reyes range at the David Lloyd Leisure Centre in Roding Lane yesterday afternoon.

The new range follows a £50m upgrade to David Lloyd clubs across the country.

The launch, which has taken place eight days before Great Britain take on the United States in the Davis Cup, saw live demonstrations by athletes Jenny Pacey and Wayne Gordon, who are better known as Enigma and Doom from television series Gladiators.

Speaking about his career, during which he stayed virtually injury-free, Agassi said he owed his fitness record to three critical factors - strength, conditioning and safety, which he and fitness coach Gil Reyes used when creating the range.

The equipment includes a 'Change of Direction' squat machine, The Power Stride, The Quad and The Olympic Flat Bench.
