Four goals from former Motorman Petrit Elbi condemned Redbridge to a miserable 7-0 thrashing at Aveley on Monday evening in Isthmian Division One North.

Defeat leaves Dave Ross and Ricky Eaton's side seven points clear of the relegation zone but with many more results like this, they could be dragged back into the dogfight.

Danny Francis struck the post after ten minutes for Aveley and six minutes later the opener arrived, Elbi connecting with Matty Bakare's pass to beat Jack Avery in the Redbridge goal.

The Millers' lead was doubled within a minute as Jack Stevenson lobbed the onrushing Avery to extend the home side's advantage.

A third arrived in the 26th minute, Elbi latching onto a Bakare through ball before slotting beyond the overworked Avery.

Redbridge's misery was compounded when they earned and subsequently missed a penalty; Kacey Adams failing to beat James Marrable.

Elbi then completed a 29-minute hat-trick, firing home Aveley fourth's from an acute angle. And it could have been more had Avery not pulled off a string of saves to deny Stevenson and Lemar Reynolds.

It was 5-0 before the break, though, Elbi converting from close range after meeting a dangerous inswinging corner.

There was some respite in the second period for Redbridge, who only conceded twice more to cap a miserable evening; Stevenson and sub Robbie Farrell on target.

On Saturday the Motormen were beaten 1-0 at Thamesmead Town thanks to skipper Aaron Scott's own goal.

The game's decisive moment arrived after 50 minutes, Scott getting enough on Michael Spencer's drive to carry the ball past goalkeeper Avery.

Joe Gent had a chance for the visitors in the 72nd minute but could only fire wide, whilst Tyrus Gordon-Young missed an excellent chance for Thamesmead late on.

Next up for Redbridge is a home game against Wroxham on Saturday.
