LOASS FC Girls’ title hopes were scuppered after conceding a late equaliser in their 2-2 draw with league leaders Tottenham Ladies Under-12s.

The team dominated in the first half and went close on several occasions to taking the lead.

Two costly errors from the Spurs goalkeeper gave LOASS the upper hand, with Jessica Benning taking full advantage and scoring twice.

In the second half LOASS went close again, with striker Josie Burke hitting the woodwork twice. However Spurs scored a goal against the run of play to set up a tense finale.

In the dying seconds of the match, Tottenham rescued a draw after a controversial free-kick sent the ball creeping into the net.

LOASS boss Joe Sheehan said: “I am gutted for my players to concede the equaliser with 45 seconds left on the clock which now sees our title chances go up in smoke. I cannot fault any of my players. We are unbeaten since October and we took this game to the league leaders.”

The team will be hosting a regional development side from Maryland, USA, on Thursday, April 9 at CONEL Campus in Enfield.

LOASS FC Girls Under-12s play Queens Park Rangers in the London County Cup at Ham FC on April 26.
