With long-term leaders May & Baker EC ‘A’ not in action, second-placed Chingford Athletic closed the gap by picking up a 3-1 win at Newham Reserves.

The gap between the top two is now down to six points and Chingford have the added advantage of three games in hand on May & Baker.

Michael Mignot bagged a brace, with Matt Thompson rounding off the scoring for Chingford.

Third-placed Jolof Sports Club also kept the heat on by cruising to a 4-1 victory at home to Chingford Harriers.

Dan Pereira scored the only goals in consolation for Harriers, who are third bottom with two games remaining. Jolof are 17 points off the summit with two games in hand.

Melbourne Sports took four points from their double header with Eastside Rangers (London Community), drawing one and winning the other at Melbourne’s ground.

One game ended in a goalless draw but the other saw Melbourne ease past Eastside 3-1.

Ben Taylor, Antony Hawe and Gavin Merrifield were all on target for the home side.

St Francis are deep in relegation trouble after losing 3-2 at home to AAH Romford.

The defeat leaves the second-bottom side four points from safety, although they do have four games in hand on those sides directly above them.

Steven Florence, James Hermann and Casey Quincey goals made sure of the points for visiting Romford.

Division One

St Johns Deaf were in ruthless form as they crushed Lord Nelson 7-3 on the road.

The win sees St Johns move up a place to fourth but leaves them four points outside of the promotion places with three games in hand on Vittoriosa Falcons, the side directly above them.

Second-placed Northend beat bottom-of-the-pile Chingford Town Reserves 2-1 to make some inroads on Blue Marlin’s lead.

The current leaders are still 12 points clear of Northend, who only hold two games in hand.

A brace from Ryan Leddra cancelled out Jack Lustig’s goal for the visitors.

Division Two

Tom Blackmur hit five as Grove United routed Singh Sabha Barking 8-0.

The table-topping side were in form in front of goal and Blackmur’s haul was added to by John Hughes (2) and Jamie Pooley.

Grove remain a point clear of West Essex Reserves in second but having played one match less than their title rivals.

West Essex kept the heat on Grove by claiming a 2-1 victory at Cowley Community.

Jack McQuibban and James Bromley both notched for the away side, who are eight-points ahead of third-placed Leyton Green.

Seventh-placed Dagenham United cruised to a 2-0 success over bottom-of-the-table Northend Reserves.

The goals were scored by Quadri Ithman and Nathan Ekskine and leave Northend three points from safety.

Fenton Cup Quarter-Final

Only penalties could separate Chingford Town and Custom House, with the former 4-3 victors from the spot.

The game had ended in a 3-3 draw at the end of extra-time, with Chetin Ali (2) and James Webster on target. Joshua Thompson rattled in a hat-trick for Custom House.

Cranes United made a little lighter work of beating Three Colts, emerging 3-2 victors.
