Leyton Orient manager Fabio Liverani believes his team subconsciously may have felt they had achieved safety after this month's win at Coventry City despite facing the likelihood of relegation on the final day of the season.

The O's must win at Swindon Town next Sunday and hope other sides above them slip up to have any chance of staying in League One.

Orient's 1-1 draw at home to Sheffield United extended their winless run since the Coventry game to six matches and the Italian boss has taken responsibility for allowing his players to think the job was done.

Liverani said: "I think one of the things I could have done better and I take all the responsibility for this is maybe I haven't transmitted to the players the fact we haven't achieved safety after reaching 45 points after being Coventry.

"Nothing was done yet. We were not safe and maybe we lost our guard a bit. In the last few games we couldn't manage to make points that would have kept us in a better position in the league.

"Maybe subconsciously we thought we had achieved the final goal of the season. But goals have to be achieved first before to be celebrated."

Mathieu Baudry headed Orient in front against the Blades but a deflected equaliser from Bob Harris has left the O's with it all to do on the final day of the campaign.

Liverani said: "Unfortunately up to today it was all in our hands because everything depended on our results. We still have a chance but it's not only dependent on us on the last game of the season. It will depend also on other teams' results.

"It's a shame because today we were 1-0 up and then we should have been more strong at the back and more mean to not concede chances to them. But this hasn't happened and now we're still in with a chance but it's not in our hands anymore."
