Leyton Orient Advanced Soccer School (LOASS) Under-12 Girls finished as runners-up in the London County Cup on Sunday as they lost 4-0 to Queens park Rangers.
It was evident it would not be LOASS' day from the outset at Ham and Kew Association Sports Ground as the East Londoners quickly fell behind to a pair of own goals inside 15 minutes.
A third strike followed just before half-time leaving LOASS with much to do after the restart in order to secure silverware.
And it was an improved second-half showing from the East London outfit, who twice came close to reducing the deficit when they struck on the post; creating further opportunites without converting.
But ultimately QPR's class told and a fourth goal arrived to kill off the contest for good in the final quarter.
Speaking afterwards, head coach Joe Sheehan mused: "The result didn’t completely reflect the game as such but we were up against a tough and very well-drilled QPR side that have been unbeaten all season.
"We gave them a good game in the second half and we exorcised the ghosts of the first."
LOASS now travel to Bognor Regis on Friday, May 1 to compete in the ESF Festival of Football Championships.
They will also compete in the final of the Essex League Cup against Colebrook Royals at the Essex Football Association's Finals Day next month.
