Ongar's Mark Cavendish retained his lead on the second day of the Tour of Turkey on Monday by picking up a second stage win.

The Etixx Quick-Step rider had won Sunday's first stage and repeated the trick on day two by edging out Italian Sacha Modolo of Lampre-Merida in second and third-placed Nicola Ruffoni of Bardiani-CSF.

It was the 127th win of Cavendish's professional career - with six of those coming on the Tour of Turkey in the last two years - and his eighth of the season so far.

Several teams jostled for position in the run-in to the finish in Antalya, with Cavendish's hopes seemingly dealt a blow when lead-out man Mark Renshaw suffered an untimely puncture.

However, Renshaw soon chased back to work his way through the peloton and the setback was quickly forgotten when Cavandish crossed the line in first to hold onto the overall lead.

Today's third stage in a 165km route from Kemer which encorporates a mountain finish in Emali.
