Mark Cavendish outsprinted Peter Sagan once again to claim his second consecutive stage win on the Tour of California.
The 29-year-old, who has a property in Ongar, won Sunday's opening stage in Sacramento and repeated the trick on Monday by sprinting to victory in Lodi.
Speaking afterwards the 'Manxman' said: "He (Sagan) came underneath me in the last corner, and it was perfect.
"With the pressure he's under he would hit out early, so I was happy to come off his wheel.
"He actually did a good job of boxing me in so I had to really start the sprint late."
And the win extends the Etixx - Quick-Step rider's lead over Slovakian Sagan to eight seconds ahead of today's (Tuesday's) third stage in San Jose.
Stage Two (Nevada City - Lodi) Podium:
1. Mark Cavendish (GBR), Etixx – Quick-Step Pro Cycling Team
2. Peter Sagan (SVK), Tinkoff-Saxo
3. Wouter Wippert (NED), Drapac Professional Cycling
