Woodford Green with Essex Ladies’ Tiffany Porter recorded two third-place finishes and a runners-up place in Diamond League meetings this week.

Porter, who took gold in the 100m hurdles in Zurich, came third in the Birmingham with a time of 12.65 (+1.5), third in Rome with 12.69 (-1.7) and second in New York by finishing in 12.81 (-0.6).

Tosin Oke was also in Diamond League action and the triple jumper clinched third in Birmingham with a distance of 16.71 (+2.0) and fourth in New York by managing 16.47 (-0.6).

The South of England Championships took place at Lee Valley over the weekend and Tom Phillips took the 1,500m title with a time of 3.54.78.

Medals were also won by Youcef Zatat, who claimed second in the shot with 16.39m, Harry Clarke, who was third in the hammer with a distance of 57.60m, and Alex Bell, also third over 400m with 48.91.

There were also medals for three HCA athletes, with Gemma Rous second with 60.10 in the 400m hurdles and Gemma Weetman third in 60.56 in the same event.

In the high jump, Kashif Jones secured third position with a leap of 1.95m. Another HCA member, Jermaine Hamilton, was fifth over 100m with 10.84 (-1.1). Shana Cox, competing in Montverde, Florida, was left disappointed with a fifth-placed finish in the 400m with 54.33.

There was better news for Jordan Donnelly, who recorded a season's best of 1.50.39 over 800m at Concord MA.

TCU student Sam Watts, having qualified for the NCAA Championships, placed sixth in the 200m semi-final where he recorded 20.74 (+1.7).

Competing indoors in Cardiff there was a personal best and Club Under-20record in the pole vault for Nikko Hunt who cleared 4.86m.

At the BMC Gold Standard Meeting at Stretford last week, James Stockings placed second and ran close to his best time by clocking 3.53.72.
