Epping Forest District Swimming Club swimmers picked up 17 medals – including five golds – at the Eric Shepherd Annual Open Gala at Harlow Leisure Zone on Saturday.

Sienna Treglohan picked up two golds, coming in the 100m freestyle and 50m backstroke, whilst also sealing silver in the 50m freestyle with a time of 34.17.

Alexandra Bibby, 12, also clinched two gold medals, winning the 50m freestyle in a personal best time of 30.54 and the 200m freestyle.

There were three medals for 17-year-old Hannah Gillespie, who won the 200m freestyle gold, silver in the 100m backstroke and took bronze in the 100m freestyle.

Vathana Gopinath, 14, claimed silver in the 50m backstroke and bronze in the 100m breaststroke, whilst Maisie Muffin, 9, took silver in the 100m backstroke.

Georgie Park, 11, won bronze medals in both the 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle. And there were also bronze medals for Molly Curtis in the 200m individual medley, Thomas Bentley in the 100m breaststroke, Michael Sharp in the 100m breaststroke and Rufus Jones in the 100m backstroke.

Meanwhile, at the East London Mini League Gala at Becontree Heath Leisure Centre, there was further success for the club with a fourth-place finish.

Natasha Dawson, Alex Johnson and Krishan Parmar all won at the 50m breaststroke, whilst Brandon Baldacci and Kirsty Flowers enjoyed victories in the 50m butterfly and Honor Schwartz at the 50m backstroke.

The 4x25m freestyle relay team comprised of Ellie Joyce, Alexandra Dawson, Ganga Nair and Daniele Griniute were victorious, as were the 8x50m mixed freestyle relay team of Kirsty Flowers, Thomas Compton, Anya, Robert Whitelegg, Orla Joyce, Alex Hantig, Kitty Jarvis and Brandon Baldacci.
