London Raiders coach Alan Blyth has continued preparations for next season by confirming the return of two further members of last year’s side, Liam Chong and Frankie Harvey.

Chong, 23, joined midway through last season having previously turned out for Romford age group teams. He lists Basingstoke and Manchester among his former teams.

A statement on the club website read: “Liam brought some energy and versatility to the team last season and many will remember his switch to defence on the Isle of Wight, which was seen as a fundamental reason for an unexpected win.

“We certainly know what we get with Liam and effort is high on the list.

“We think with a line that gels, his points production will rise this season, although it’s also true that the opposition are aware of his threat and may try to put him off his game.”

“That points production was enough to see Liam awarded with Forward of the Year at last season’s presentations evening.

“With some new linemates this season, many will be expecting even greater things from the ex-GB junior.”

Chong scored 33 points in 28 appearances last season after re-joining midway through a 19-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, 22-year-old Harvey will remain with the club having returned last year after a stint earlier in his career.

Harvey debuted during the 2009/10 season and scored 32 points in 39 games at the age of just 17.

Another former Great Britain junior, Harvey also turned out for Invicta during last season before returning to Lee Valley.
