West Ham United are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard after failing to overturn Adrian’s red card.

The Hammers’ first-choice goalkeeper was dismissed by referee Anthony Taylor on Saturday after appearing to strike a high boot into the chest of Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy as West Ham pushed for an equaliser in the dying embers of the game.

The FA yesterday rejected an appeal against the three-match suspension.

According to the Daily Mail, the hierarchy at Upton Park have identified the Danish international as suitable cover for the Spaniard and are reluctant to risk throwing second-choice Darren Rudolph into his first Premier League.

Lindegaard has made just 19 appearances for the Red Devils since sealing a £3.5 million switch from Norwegian side Aalesunds FK in 2010 and has been told by United boss Louis van Gaal he can leave on a free transfer.

He has featured five times for his native Denmark but is currently fourth in the pecking order at Old Trafford behind David de Gea, Victor Valdes and Sergio Romero.

The east London club have seemingly turned their attentions to the United goalkeeper and have reportedly cooled their interest in former stopper Rob Green, who had been expected to re-join the club from Queens Park Rangers.
