Alex Song has completed a second season-long loan deal to West Ham United from Spanish giants Barcelona.

The midfielder spent the last campaign at Upton Park in a similar deal and has agreed to return to east London with the Hammers.

Song becomes West Ham’s eighth signing of the summer, but potentially not the last as the club look to bring in more talent on transfer deadline day.

The Cameroonian made 28 appearances for West Ham in the Premier League last season as he fast became a key player in the Hammers’ midfield.

The former Arsenal man told the West Ham website: “I am very happy. For me it was very important to come back because when I was here I had a great rapport with the fans and the club.

“It was a very easy choice for me to come back here. It was not easy but at the end of the day, the most important thing is I’m here now and I’m very happy.”

Song has been continuously linked with Slaven Bilic’s side all summer, along with other clubs in England, but has joined the likes of Pedro Obiang and Dimitri Payet in the club’s new-look midfield.
