West Ham United have, as expected, confirmed the signing of forward Nikica Jelavic from Hull City.

The 30-year-old, who the club have paid close to £3million for, has signed a two-year deal with the Hammers with the option for a further two.

United confirmed the signing of winger Victor Moses on a season-long loan this morning and Jelavic has become the club’s second deal of the day.

Alex Song also signed a loan deal with the Upton Park outfit yesterday as he makes the switch from Barcelona for the second season running.

Croatian Jelavic has scored once already for Hull in the Championship this season, and bagged 13 overall in his 50 appearances for the club.

Previously, the frontman had a spell at Everton where he notched 21 goals in 69 games for the Merseysiders.

On making the switch to east London, Jelavic told the West Ham website: “I am very excited to be signing for West Ham United, especially as it is a big club and I didn’t know until a couple of days ago that I would have the opportunity to come here.

“Of course it is always a target to play in the Premier League, so when I found out that West Ham wanted me there was no doubt that I wanted to come here.”

Jelavic was part of West Ham boss Slaven Bilic’s Croatia side that was successful in qualifying for the European Championships in 2012.
