West Ham United midfielder Mark Noble has had the red card that he received against Liverpool on Saturday rescinded.

The club successfully appealed to the FA following Kevin Friend’s decision to send the midfielder off for a challenge on Danny Ings in the 78th minute at Anfield.

The Hammers won the match 3-0, but Noble’s red card was a controversial moment given that Friend had seemingly already blown his whistle for a foul on the 28-year-old.

Noble then proceeded to make a fair challenge in which he won the ball, but Friend dished out a red for the second time in the game having already given Reds playmaker Coutinho his marching orders.

Hammers boss Slaven Bilic was confident after the game that the club’s appeal would be successful.

Noble will no longer serve a three-match suspension and will be available for the Hammers' clash with Newcastle United on September 14.

West Ham co-owner David Sullivan tweeted: “Great news. Mark Noble’s red card has been rescinded and he will be available to play against Newcastle.”
