Old Loughtonians missed the chance to close the gap on the top two in the East League Premier Division A as they blew a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3 at Havering on Saturday.

The visitors made a strong start, though, and went ahead as early as the fourth minute when Harry Kempe ghosted into the ‘D’ to finish.

A second followed soon after when Spaniard Aleix Roset scored a drag flick from a short corner, putting Loughts 2-0 to the good.

And Loughts’ fairytale start to the contest continued as Will Hopkins added a third with a fine reverse stick finish.

That should have been game over but Havering pulled one back with a scrappy effort just before the break.

The goal proved crucial and in the second period the hosts scored two more in quick succession to ensure they would secure a share of the spoils.

Elsewhere in the East League Premier Division A, Wapping brushed aside Ipswich 4-2.

Wapping got off to a fast start and went in front through Michiel Marck with a tidy finish. The Dutchman added a second with a penalty stroke soon after to give the Maroons a 2-0 half-time lead.

Dominic Graham soon extended that advantage after the restart with a firm effort from the edge of the circle.

And, despite the best efforts of keeper Joe Trickett, the hosts managed to pull one back.

Oliver Salvesen scored at the near post to re-open a three-goal lead before the Suffolk side reduced the arrears without troubling their hosts.

Wapping ladies sit five points clear atop the East Women’s League Division One South following a resounding 4-1 success over Bishop’s Stortford.

They had to come from behind to claim the points, though, and second-half goals from Kate O’Sullivan, Fran Sutton, Jo Ward and Lucy Todd wrapped up victory with minimal fuss for Wapping.

Crostyx are perched in fourth place in East League Division Two South following an incredible 11-7 win at Southend.

Jake Burke (2), Christian Hall, James Lawes, Robert Harrison and Matt Rowland all found the back of the net before the half with Southend replying just once.

Trailing 11-3, Southend mounted what seemed an improbable comeback by scoring four times to trail 11-7. Despite the scare Styx saw out the win.
