Leyton Orient head coach Ian Hendon described their 1-1 draw at home to AFC Wimbledon as a "fantastic point".

The O's led early on through Jay Simpson's strike but John Marquis was sent off early on in the second half. Ten man Orient were put under pressure by the visitors and an equaliser from Adebayo Akinfenwa earned Wimbledon a point.

Hendon said: "I think the way the game went and the way we defended it's a fantastic point. A lot of teams playing against that big and strong Wimbledon side would have collapsed so you've got to give credit to the players for battling away and getting a point."

Hendon's substitutions in the second half raised a few eyebrows after replacing Ollie Palmer with Mathieu Baudry and also taking off Simpson for Blair Turgott.

He explained: "Ollie was taken off. He was not really having much effect up top and gave the ball away on the edge of our box a few times so I made the decision to take him off."

Hendon added: "Jay was dead on his feet out there. That's the reason for that substitution. I put Blair on to give us some legs and try and put a bit of pressure on their back four. That was the reason for that. Jay has run around and been up there on his own for a lot so the kid was knackered."

The O's head coach responded to verbal abuse from a home fan after the game and admitted he invited the supporter to speak to him face to face.

Hendon said: "If people want to shout when I'm out on the pitch giving my players a bit of praise for hanging in there and defending how they did for a good point in the end because we were up against it.

"I gave him the option to come and speak to me in the dressing room. We sent the security to bring him in and he decided to go home. It's alright shouting at me over the hoardings there but if he wants to chat with me then no problem."
